A Certificate Signing Request (also CSR or Certification Request) is a message sent from an applicant to a Certification Authority in order to apply for an SSL Certitficate. A CSR is an encrypted body of text. Your CSR will contain encoded information specific to your company and domain name; this information is known as a Distinguished Name or DN.

Common name in the CSR refers to the Domain name for which the Certificate has to be brought.

Depending on the option selected during application, the validity period of SSLGenie certificates is one year (365 days), two years (730 days), three years (1095 days) or more from the date of issuance and is detailed in the relevant field within the certificate.

Renewal application requirements and procedures are the same as those employed for the application validation and issuance requirements detailed for new customers.

You can request for a certificate if your private key has been compromised.

In order to reissue a certificate, please login to your member area. SSLGenie offers a free reissue policy during the certificate lifetime. During the certificate validation period, the Subscriber may request a reissue of their certificate and incur no further fees for the reissue. If details other than just the public key require amendment, SSLGenie reserves the right to revalidate the application in accordance with the validation processes defined. If the reissue request does not pass the validation process, SSLGenie reserves the right to refuse the reissue application. Under such circumstances, the original certificate may be revoked and a refund provided to the applicant.

Note that Flash SSLGenie Certificates cannot be reissued. If you are using a Flash SSL Certificate and your key gets compromised you should contact us by sending an email support@sslgenie.com

This step aims at checking whether the Certificate Applicant actually represents the organization for which the certificate is being issued.

This step is optional. This step will be executed only if the case is suspicious and we feel that we need addition verification before we can issue a certificate.

Authentication for new certificates could take as little as 2 hours or up to several days, depending on the type of certificate you want. If you want to buy a Flash SSLGenie domain validated certificate, the Validation process is automated and takes only 10 minutes. However if you choose the Premium SSLGenie certificate we follow a 4 step validation process. Once you produce the appropriate documents we take only 2 business days to issue this certificate.

Yes certainly, we would need to validate you once again ourselves. Our criteria for issuing SSL Certificates is often more stringent than those of other Certification Authorities.

A domain validated certificate is one in which the validated identifying information contained in the certificate is limited to the domain in which the Web site is located. If one of these certificates validates correctly, then the browser displays the padlock icon.

Domain Validation is an automatic process.

We keep all provided documentation for 7 years as per our CPS http://www.sslgenie.com/legal/cps.pdf. After 7 years all stored documentation is destroyed. Paper documentation is shredded and recycled and electronic documentation, which is regularly archived to CD-Rom, is also shredded.

We take the issue of confidentiality very seriously. All documentation received is kept securely; hard (paper) copies are filed in a secure cabinet and electronic copies are stored on a secure server. Both the secure cabinet and server have restricted access policies in place, which prevents any unauthorized personnel from having access to your documentation.

If you order subsequent certificates, through your existing account, we don't need you to re-send your documentation unless you have changed your account details. If we have any queries, we will contact you via the administrators email address on the account and request documentation if required.
